The Challenge: Great Learning Experiences Shouldn't Have Language Barriers

Simply builds creative-hobby learning apps - Piano, Guitar, Sing and Draw - used by millions of people across more than 180 countries. Everything starts in English. Product experiments, new drawing experiences, marketing creative: all built and validated in the English experience before they move anywhere else.

For most of the product, that's fine. For onboarding, it wasn't. Kids in Germany, Brazil and Turkey were downloading Simply Draw and abandoning it before they finished a first drawing - while the voice walking them through it was still speaking English.

Subtitles alone wouldn't have solved it. A kid partway into their first drawing isn't reading the screen. They need to hear it.

The Solution: AI Localization That Preserves the Learning Experience

Simply brought in Panjaya to dub Simply Draw's onboarding and instructional content into the languages of its largest non-English markets.

The hard part wasn't translation. It was making the dubbed version hold a child's attention as well as the original did. Kids are an unforgiving audience for bad dubbing: if the voice sounds flat, or the mouth doesn't match, they don't push through it, they close the app. That meant getting several things right at once, not just one.

Dub-optimized translation. Context and timing-aware, so every line sounds written to be spoken rather than translated from text.
Expressive delivery. Tone, emphasis and pacing are preserved in the dubbed version, so young learners engage with it the way they would a native-language original.
Lip correction. Applied across portions of the content, adapting on-screen lip movement to match the dubbed language so the delivery reads as native rather than overdubbed.
Production-ready output. Delivered at a fraction of traditional studio cost and timeline, with no manual cleanup required.

The work now spans Simply's app portfolio. Throughout, Panjaya operated as an extension of Simply's team rather than a vendor at the end of a brief.

The Results: Measurable Engagement, Faster Global Impact

20–40% Higher First-Drawing Completion

In every market Simply localized, the share of kids completing their first drawing rose 20-40% against that same market's pre-launch baseline, varying by country. That lift is itself the quality signal. A dub that sounded wrong wouldn't hold a five-year-old through a first drawing - they'd leave anyway.

10× Faster Evaluation Turnaround

Simply had run both Panjaya and another AI dubbing vendor against the same ten videos before deciding. Panjaya came back in roughly two days; the other vendor took 20. The difference reflected more than processing speed: Panjaya's technology, combined with how its team worked - responsiveness, urgency, and a willingness to get close to Simply's team and move.

Faster Expansion of Proven Product Experiences

The value of speed extends well beyond the dubbing itself. Because Simply develops and tests in English, turnaround time governs how quickly a proven win - a product experience, a piece of content, a marketing creative - reaches every other market. Faster localization means the business impact of an English-market result gets captured and multiplied globally rather than staying English-only.

Simply Draw now runs in 10 languages. Over the past year, kids created roughly 35 million drawings in it.

In Simply’s Words

“When we launch Simply Draw in a kid's local language, we see a 20-40% relative lift in the percentage of kids who complete their first drawing. That's a very clear signal of how important dubbing is in making Simply Draw work for each local market.”

— Rani Kliger, General Manager, Simply Draw

Rani also highlighted the importance of speed to Simply’s global growth:

“Panjaya's speed directly impacts how quickly we can turn a win in English into business impact globally.”

— Rani Kliger, General Manager, Simply Draw

Why Panjaya

Simply’s experience illustrates three advantages of Panjaya’s approach to educational video localization.

Learning experiences that preserve engagement. Young learners engage with an instructor because of how they communicate - tone, emphasis, presence. Panjaya preserves that in the dubbed version, and corrects lip movement where the speaker is on screen, so the learning experience doesn't degrade across languages.
Global localization at the pace of product innovation. New content ships continuously and existing experiences get updated. Panjaya is built for that cadence, not for one-off productions.
Advanced technology backed by production expertise. Panjaya pairs an AI-native localization platform with a team that works inside Simply's workflow - responsive, urgent, and close to the work rather than delivering against a brief and waiting.

For Simply, localization was never about translated words. It was about whether a child sticks with their first drawing - and in every market Simply localized, more of them did.
